I spent the most beautiful afternoon with Justine and Alex capturing their summer engagement in Tribeca, NYC a year ahead of their wedding day at Deer Mountain Inn. They wanted engagement photos around their home neighborhood of Tribeca, which always adds such a personal layer to an engagement session. It was a beautiful area with a cute local coffee shop, brick buildings, and brick roads that created a charming backdrop. As we walked and explored the area, we made our way to the West Side Highway where we were able to catch a gorgeous sunset over the water.
Then, towards the end of their session their adorable dog joined in the session, and it was the perfect ending to their summer engagement. I always love when couples include their dog, as it adds even more meaning, personality, and joy to the images.
Engagement Session Fashion
I absolutely loved Justine’s flowy, floral dress. Her colorful dress was the perfect look for their romantic summer engagement session, and also really paired with her personality. She is so joyful and her smile is bright and contagious. Alex complemented her look seamlessly in a light grey suit, creating a look that felt elevated.
Being Present During Engagement Photos
If there’s one thing that stood out most during this session, it was how present Justine and Alex were with each other. They weren’t focused on the camera or trying to get the perfect shot; they simply enjoyed the moment. They laughed, wandered the neighborhood while holding hands, and soaked in the evening together, and that’s exactly what made their photos so beautiful. When you let go, have fun, and truly lean into the experience, that’s when the most genuine moments unfold.
Summer Engagement in Tribeca, NYC
Justine and Alex’s energy and connection was contagious. I couldn’t help but smile as I watched them together. You can see that they are so genuinely happy and playful together, which translated into the most gorgeous and candid engagement portraits. After attending the same college but never crossing paths, they met at a UVA alumni gathering in NYC, and it is clearly meant to be.
