When planning for their wedding, one of the first things Maddie and Jason did was hire a wedding planner – the incredible Fitting Fetes. After Fitting Fetes spoke to Maddie and Jason, Fitting Fetes told me about Maddie and Jason’s wedding vision and the style of photography they were looking for, and told me she felt we would be a perfect match for each other and that she wanted me to talk to them.
Maddie, Jason, and I then proceeded to hop on a phone call together where they shared more of their vision with me, and the call confirmed what their wedding planner already knew: that we truly were a perfect match for each other. These two are the epitome of joy, and they wanted photos that were romantic, warm, and inviting, which was my focus when photographing their day.

Maddie and Jason’s Spring Wedding at the William Vale Hotel
If all of this has captured your attention, take a behind-the-lens look at Maddie and Jason’s enchanting wedding at the William Vale Hotel:
Background on the couple
Maddie and Jason’s love story is beautiful and unique. It is such an incredible story that I had to share because they did NOT swipe right. Their story starts at a Jewish camp experience for adults.
When you get on a bus to escape the city, you don’t plan on meeting your soulmate there, but that is exactly what happened here. After a not-so-great start with Maddie’s bus seat being broken, Maddie turned around and had Jason sitting behind her, offering spiked seltzers and the perfect presence to break the ice on the trip.
The seat was just the beginning, and their meet-cute turned into an amazing bond as they spent time together at camp. It should also be noted that during their time at camp together, Maddie beat Jason in a kayak race, and afterwards, Jason hoisted Maddie on his shoulders after their team victoriously won the color war.
Once they got back to the city, the two decided to start dating, and the rest is history. Jason eventually got down on one knee in Canada, where Maddie is originally from, and popped the question surrounded by family!

Maddie and Jason’s Wedding
Maddie and Jason wanted an ethereal, whimsical day that was also sophisticated and elevated to complement the modern backdrop of the William Vale Hotel.
Using different floral arrangements that added beautiful bursts of color, they created a garden-like vibe in the ballroom with candlelight to create a magical feel.
When planning their wedding, they chose to have an eye-catching color palette consisting of pastel peach, yellows, corals, and dusty blue with pops of cream and accents of gold. Maddie also chose to have the bridesmaids all wear dusty blue.
Even the letter-pressed invitations were just incredible, bringing in some modern twists with a cool Brooklyn vibe!
Originally, Maddie and Jason had planned to have their ceremony on the rooftop. But Mother Nature had other plans, and some inclement weather pushed them inside. They already had a backup plan, though, and the Westlight was the perfect spot in the hotel to tie the knot indoors and still have the Manhattan skyline as their backdrop!

Getting ready, the ceremony and reception
Maddie and Jason had all their festivities at The William Vale, and they got ready in one of the terrace suites. Their backup location with the indoor rooftop space created the perfect place for them to tie the knot, and they danced the night away in the ballroom, which they had fully transformed.
Something super unique to this wedding is that for both families, the bride and groom were the last child in their family to get married. So there was a double Mezinka: a Jewish tradition that celebrates the parents when their last child gets married.

Wedding details
Jason and Maddie’s celebration also had so many special and significant touches, including their signature drinks, which consisted of “The Madjito” and “Jason in the US-Eh”, which was a nod to Maddie’s Canadian family. Jason is also an avid hobbyist welder, so he created beautiful rose holders for the Chuppah, as well as their wedding bands. Maddie, a lover of pottery, created a ring dish for their rings.
Another noteworthy feature of their day was their wedding cake, which was made by Empire Cake and custom-designed to reflect the couple’s story from their meeting at Camp Trybal to their beloved dog Shadow.
I also have to give a shout-out to Maddie and Jason’s amazing wedding planner, Fitting Fetes, who was integral to executing their vision and pulling together the best vendors that could deliver on Maddie and Jason’s wedding vision that they had since the very beginning of the wedding planning process.
Their first dance song, “Book of Love,” was also incredibly special as it holds a strong significance for Maddie and Jason. It was their first dance song, and a different version was also played during their ceremony.
This day had so many special and heartfelt moments throughout, and I loved being a part of it.
