There is nothing sweeter than capturing a surprise proposal! I just love the build up of anticipation and seeing the genuine reactions and emotion right after. For Natalie and Tyler’s surprise proposal at Deer Mountain Inn, the family helped plan the proposal, which was so fun. Natalie is the identical twin sister of a past bride of mine. Needless to say, when the family reached out about helping Tyler plan his proposal I was all in! I absolutely ADORE this family!
Leading up to the moment, Ari, Justin, and I met beforehand to get clothes coordinated for Natalie. Meanwhile, Tyler and I coordinated with the Deer Mountain Inn team to ensure that we had the most perfect views for her surprise. When someone books a surprise proposal, I usually visit the site and create a directional video on the exact location to propose in preparation to ensure that it goes seamlessly. We had the most perfect spot at Deer Mountain Inn with a stunning view of the Catskills in the distance and patches of wildflowers surrounding the grassy clearing.

As Natalie and Tyler stood there taking in the view of the mountains, he turned and got down on one knee to propose to a completely shocked Natalie. She was over the moon excited. After the proposal, we were able to capture their engagement session. We took advantage of the property and all the dreamy spots for photos. I love how Natalie kept sneaking glances at her ring. They were both on cloud nine and it made for the sweetest engagement photos. Once we were done with photos, the couple went to a surprise engagement party with her and Tyler’s families.
It was such an honor to capture this moment for Natalie and Tyler! Seeing the joy on their faces and love bubbling over was extremely rewarding. I am thrilled that they will be able to relive this special moment in the years to come.
