Alice and Dan’s SoHo NYC engagement session was such a beautiful reminder that the best photographs happen when couples simply allow themselves to be present with one another. From the moment we began their session, these two fully embraced the experience. They let their guard down, focused on each other, and trusted the process, which allowed me to capture them exactly as they are together. The result was a collection of gorgeous, authentic images. Their love for one another is impossible to miss, and you can feel the genuine happiness they share in every photograph.
SoHo NYC Engagement Session
We scheduled their session when the streets of SoHo feel a little quieter. As we wandered through the neighborhood, the iconic buildings, charming side streets, and classic New York architecture created the perfect backdrop for their engagement photos. Alice looked stunning in a simple yet timeless white summer dress, which coordinated with Dan’s crisp white shirt and dark jeans.
One of my favorite things about photographing engagement sessions in New York City is that magic can appear almost anywhere. While exploring SoHo, we stumbled upon a random street corner with the most incredible light. It wasn’t a notable spot, but in that moment it felt special. The way the sunlight filtered between the buildings and wrapped around them was absolute perfection. Some of my favorite images from the entire session were captured right there.
Engagement Photos in Tribeca
After spending time in SoHo, we headed to their neighborhood in Tribeca. Dan swapped his shirt for a charcoal gray t-shirt, giving the photos a more relaxed and casual feel. We also welcomed their adorable dog into the photoshoot. Dogs are always a welcome addition to any session, and this sweet pup loved walking with his favorite people.
We ended their session down by the Hudson River, with the Manhattan skyline visible in the distance. It was the perfect ending to an already beautiful session. As they leaned into each other and shared a quiet moment together, I was reminded once again that engagement sessions are about so much more than photographs. They are an opportunity to slow down, be present, and celebrate this exciting season before the big day.
