There’s something about getting married at your childhood home that simply never goes out of style.

As someone who also got married at my childhood home, when Emily and John told me they wanted to do it on her property, I FULLY understood how important and sentimental this day would be for them both. A home that has been such a beautiful backdrop to her childhood and her life. Truth be told, when Emily first moved in when she was 5 years old and got a glimpse of the house, she cried…the not so happy tears. But through so much love and care, her parents have beautifully transformed this home (built in 1887 and the first home in town with a working telephone!), into a space that you immediately feel at ease when you walk through the doors.

For Emily and John’s day, there were so many personal touches that were incorporated throughout from her grandmother’s bud vases that held florals throughout the home, to John’s family’s convertible Cadillac, and even their wedding invitations were letter pressed in Emily’s Nana’s handwriting. They even got married at the exact spot that Emily’s parents got married right by the family gazebo in the back. Every decision made for Emily and John’s day was made with intention. And on Saturday, they surrounded themselves with 70 of their closest to promise forever to each other.

Congrats Emily and John! To be a witness to your day was a true gift! Thank you so much for inviting me to join in with your closest.

xo.
